4th of July Festivities

Since we had Landon's birthday party on the 3rd of July this year, that left the entire day of the 4th to just relax, celebrate, and enjoy the day! The only thing that was a *must* on our list for the day was to take the little guy to watch the fireworks show at McFarland park...for the very first time! In the past he had been asleep by the time the fireworks started at 9, so we never made it. However this year Landon completely understands being able to "stay up late" so he thought it was really a special treat...and of course he thought the fireworks were only for him, because it was his birthday after all! haha!

So after waking up late that morning, we headed to Cracker Barrel for some birthday pancakes at Landon's request. We then came back home to play with all of his new toys...that in itself lasted hours! We took our usual afternoon nap to rest up for the remainder of a fun filled afternoon of...

Making homemade ice cream with Papa...

Swimming with Daddy (luckily no one cut their fingers open this time!!)

And then after dinner at Nana & Papa's we made our way to McFarland park for the fireworks show. We stumbled upon an awesome parking spot, which just so happened to not only be close to the fireworks but also right next to E.A.Nelson Tractor store. Landon was in heaven!

We opened the hatch on the back of the car and crawled in for the show. Then, when the clock struck 9 it began, one by one, BOOM! BOOM! Beautiful fireworks right before our eyes. It was loud, but not loud enough that it bothered either kiddo. At one point during the show I turned and asked Landon what he thought of the fireworks and he responded, "Mommy, this is amazing!" Presh! Love that little boy!

Right as the cluster of fireworks went off at the end we jumped in the car (to try and beat the traffic...but to no avail) and headed home for a small fireworks show of our own. Our explosives of choice? Snap & Pops, Tanks, Monster Trucks and Sparklers. Watch out! We were blowing up the heavy stuff! haha! I think the fireworks were a great ending to a fabulous birthday weekend!

Putting his new John Deere trailer to use! Heavy Hauling!
