Beach 2011

I can't think of anything better than feeling the sand beneath my feet and listening to the crashing waves outside my door! So peaceful! I love the beach and so does my husband. We usually plan at least one, if not two trips every year. This year was a little different as we had one extra little person to think about :)

Even before Corinne was born Josh and I started scouting out a new beach to explore. We love Gulf Shores, but we needed something different, somewhere new. I put my husband in charge of all the details since I was little preoccupied and let me just say he didn't disappoint :)

We chose a very kid friendly condo called Splash. It was awesome! Right up Landon's alley!  The ground floor not only has 2 pools, but also a lazy river and.....drum roll please.....A SPLASH PAD! Perfect! That way even if it were to rain or be too chilly outside (since we were going in the fall) Landon would still have plenty of things to occupy him! And, to top it off, the condo even had an arcade, bowling alley, and DVD rental. Fortunately we had beautiful weather and spent most of our mornings at Pier Park, afternoons at the beach, and our evenings at the splash pad. Pier Park is a little mall just a few blocks from our condo that had yummy seafood restaurants, great little boutiques, and even a carnival for Landon. Landon especially enjoyed the choo-choo train that circled around the park!

There is no denying that my Landon is an absolute beach baby! He had his very first trip to the beach at 2 months old and has been nothing short of obsessed with the beach ever since. So of course he loved this trip! He dug holes in the sand with his Daddy, chased seagulls all over the beach (silly boy!), searched for jellyfish in the ocean, made lots of little friends at the splash pad, and put about 50,000 miles on his dump truck...since it had to haul all of the sand away from his hole he was digging with Daddy :)

Corinne's first experience of the beach was a little different than Landon's. She wasn't a huge fan of the sun being in her face, but she did love the sound of the ocean. Most days we would head down after lunch and she would fall asleep so easy on my shoulder just listening to the waves crash. Like any good Momma I made her stick her toes in the sand, which she actually enjoyed, and I had her to splash her little feet in the ocean. I personally think that Corinne's favorite part of the entire trip was the lazy river, where she got to relax in her whale and just float around. Ahhhh, that's the life :) Corinne was so laid back the entire trip - very go-with-the-flow the entire time. It was wonderful! She even slept in the car 6 of the 8 hour drive! (This is a miracle! She HATES the car) Landon even slept on the way home, too! Bless him, he was worn out!

Thank you, PCB, for such a fabulous trip! I highly recommend the SPLASH resort for anyone looking for a kid-friendly condo! And just for future reference, dont book your trip the first weekend in October - we didn't realize the first two days of our vacation would be spent with "Thunder on the Beach!"  Yikes. Motorcycles everywhere. Oh well! They sure kept Landon entertained :)
