We had a great drive down. Landon was an angel in the car, very well behaved because he knew that if he was not, we would turn right back around and he could not play in that white, soft sand! In the past we have stayed in a great little condo in Gulf Shores called the Lighthouse, but our favorite room was booked, so we opted to stay in Fort Morgan this time, and am I ever so glad that we did! The beaches were MUCH nicer than in Gulf Shores. And, to top it off, where we stayed just so happened to be a favorite spot for the sea turtles to lay their eggs! So, one morning as we were heading to the beach, we saw a crowd around the nest. We were fortunate enough to watch the cute little sea turtles hatch and make their way to the big blue! Now that's something not everyone gets to witness!
Our days consisted of a familiar routine. After breakfast we would head to the beach and play until nap time. After nap we ventured out to find something yummy for lunch, and then more often than not, we would have some kind of activity planned. The first night at the beach we took Landon to his very first concert - Brad Paisley in the sand. Then 2 of the 6 days we went to the Track to ride go-carts, 1 afternoon we went shopping, and during this trip we planned something extra fun for Landon - a Glass Bottom Boat Ride! He really liked it, especially getting to see the dolphins swim and play.
The only thing that would have made this trip any more perfect would have been if I wouldn't have been so nauseous! Ugh! I was fine as long as I had my lemon water, but that nasty feeling just seemed to linger all day. I'm sure that it could have been much worse! Thankfully I have a wonderful husband who, without question, got up bright and early with Landon every morning of our vacation so that I could get my rest. The boys even brought me orange juice in bed! LOVE THEM!
I think it is safe to say that I have a little beach boy! He adores the sand. Honestly, he would have stayed out there all day and night had we let him! We even had to bag up some of the pretty sand and bring it home with us - a little memento for Landon's sand box!
Oh, and just to warn you, I took about a million pictures :) Can't help myself...
