Going into her appointment I had a few worries. I was afraid that she had not gained enough of her birth weight back, which means I would have to supplement formula along with breast milk. I was also afraid of her belly button, as ever since the umbilical cord fell off it bleeds a little from time to time. All of my fears were laid to rest when Dr. Melvin came in. Corrine had gained 9 oz. in a week, which actually put her 2oz. over her birth weight at 8lbs. 9 oz. She had also grown from 19.75 inches to 21.5 inches in 2 weeks! The nurse measured her twice, as that is a lot of growth in such a short amount of time! I suppose she will be tall like her brother!
As far as her umbilical cord goes, Dr. Melvin said that's normal, that the bleed was how her belly button was "scabbing" over. When Landon was born we were told to put alcohol on the cord daily to help it scab and dry out, but with Corinne they said to not use alcohol at all! Just let it dry out on its own... funny how 3 years makes a difference in info! He did say to get it good and clean that we should use peroxide twice a day and it would stop trying to scab over. Well, he was right! Baby girl has a nice, clean belly button now! :)
Dr. Melvin did notice that in her left eye she has a clogged tear duct, but he said it *should* correct itself within 2 months, so that's good. Corinne didn't have to get any shots at this appointment, but they did have to stick her foot for her PKU test. She will get her shots at her next appointment in August...when she will be 2 months old :( Time, please slow down!!!
Headed to the doctor...maybe she'll sleep the entire time? Yeah right...
Well, her vocal cords work just fine! :)
"Why? Why must to stick my foot?
And why is it so cold in here?!?!"
Brother was so worried about baby sister! Presh!

I hadn't heard that about the alcohol. They told us to do that last year when Sam was born so it must be something new.
Can't believe how fast she's growing (taller!) So sweet.
Oh wow! She has gotten longer! And CONGRATS!!! to you on the weight gain! Isn't it great to know that you (well, we'll just say chocolate and strawberry ;) ) did all of that! Makes you super proud to be a woman huh!?! Way to go momma!!!
